Fresh From The Dairy: Ultra Violet

Fresh From The Dairy: Ultra Violet

Ever since Pantone announced that the 2018 color of the year was Ultra Violet, I’ve been wondering how to incorporate this deep, rich color into my own life. I actually don’t think I own anything purple so I checked out Society6 for interesting options that won’t break the bank. Whether you’re looking to add Ultra Violet to your home or to your style, Society6 has lots of items to choose from. Here are some of my favorites:

Diamond Fade in Violet comforter by Aeva

In an ongoing effort to support independent artists from around the world, Design Milk is proud to partner with Society6 to offer The Design Milk Dairy, a special collection of Society6 artists’ work curated by Design Milk and our readers. A Collection Made Using Terrazzo, Metal, and Textiles from annajames

A Collection Made Using Terrazzo, Metal, and Textiles from annajames

With minimalism and postmodern design being the inspiration, Collezione L!Puff is a series of handmade furniture made using a mix of terrazzo, metal, and textiles. The capsule collection comes from Lisbon-based illustrator and designer Anna Horvath, founder of annajames, who was able to successfully bring her visual aesthetic into three-dimensional form.

Her bold use of color merges with textures and geometrical shapes that create a visually intriguing collection, which includes a rocking chair, lounge chair, mirror, table, and stool, each handmade with raw materials sourced in Hungary. The white cement features fragments of blue and red glass tying in the colors of the collection.

The Floyd Table Is Durable and Easy to Put Together

The Floyd Table Is Durable and Easy to Put Together

The Table is a minimal dining table created by Detroit-based furniture brand Floyd. Renowned for their commitment in creating perfect essentials for the home, Floyd’s newest piece retains their mantra on making the best version of a single product.

Floyd, known for their minimal and easy-to-assemble bed frame, expands into the rest of the home with a multipurpose table. The table can be assembled in less than five minutes, without any tools, and ships flat-packed. The table is manufactured in the United States, and is constructed of birch and all-natural linoleum.

As described by Kyle Hoff, “No matter the purpose, everyone needs a table in their home. As we developed the design for the Floyd table, we looked to first create a product that our customers would really want to spend time with because so much of our life happens around tables.”

Cozying up at the NEWHAUS Holiday Houses

Cozying up at the NEWHAUS Holiday Houses

I’ve always wanted to rent a beach house in the middle of winter. There’s something about being near the beach during a time that’s the complete antithesis of bikini season. Instead of frolicking in the sunshine in swimsuits, cozying up inside and watching the waves crash onto the the shore sounds just as delightful, no? Now imagine doing exactly that at the NEWHAUS designed by Berlin-based architect Herbert Hussmann. Located 3.5 hours outside of Berlin, the NEWHAUS consists of two architecturally-designed holiday houses that are surrounded by an idyllic pine forest and the sand dunes of Dierhagauen-Neuhaus.

There are two homes available for rent, Haus Pine and Haus Sand. Both feature minimalist architecture and modern interiors with the latest technology and amenities.

You’ll find classic design by the likes of Minotti, Vitra, B&B Italia, and Hans J. Wegner. Listen to music on luxury technologies from Muso, B&O, Naim and Bose. Salto My Clay key systems will check you in and an electric station will charge your car up. Inside, contemporary art by Thomas Scheibitz, Adrian Sauer, Bettina Krieg, Philipp Grözinger, Amelie Grözinger, Hannelore van Dijk, Franziska Holstein, Jens Hausmann and Tony Crag adorn the walls.

You’ll find everything else you could possibly need – utensils, cutlery, Nespresso coffee makers, juice press, linens, bedding and more – to make your beach stay comfortable.

If it’s warm enough, the beach is only steps away. Need to warm? Every haus comes with a sauna on the bottom level of the home.

What: The NEWHAUS Holiday Houses
Where: Zwischen Den Kiefern 18 – 18347 Dierhagen
How much? Each haus is approximately $506* (see note below)
