K-Series Watch Collection by Instrmnt

K-Series Watch Collection by Instrmnt

K-Series is a minimalist collection of watches created by Glasgow-based studio Instrmnt. The new collection of watches are directly influenced by the science of materiality and color theory. Notably, the most prominent material specified for each watch is nitrile rubber. It is created through a process of polymerization that transforms molecular particles into more advanced, usable forms. In this case, allowing for elasticity, longevity, and a silk-like texture.

Inspired by the CMYK printing process, each watch takes the appearance of a specific dilution of black, or ‘key’ as it is known when used to print draft run material. The chosen dilution levels are 31%, 61%, and 100%. They have applied the resulting unpigmented shades to both the PVD coating to their steel watch cases and the nitrile formula for their rubber straps.

All Instrmnt watches take inspiration derived from the industrial design of mid-20th century and pair high quality Swiss and German components to create a simple and utilitarian design. The K-Series will continue to use the brand’s legacy Swiss Rhonda 585 movement, as well as the solid sapphire crystal glass face.
