The Suave collection, designed by Marcel Wanders for VONDOM, is the result of a 5-year collaboration between the world-renowned design studio and the Spanish feature company. Meaning “soft” in English, the Suave collaboration launches the first in VONDOM’s history that brings together new materials, textures, and fabrics to create a more sophisticated and elegant outdoor experience that blurs the boundary between indoor and outdoor furniture.
Pieces in the collection include a modular sofa, puffs in five different sizes, and planters available in three different sizes. “We selected calm, sensual, and appeasing colors to create a welcoming, iconic environment that becomes a place to be,” Gabriele Chiave, creative director at Marcel Wanders says. With this collection VONDOM also introduces an incredibly resistant production method – injected polyurethane – that challenges previous techniques used.
The Suave collection is the proud winner of the prestigious German Design Award in the category of excellent product design – gardening and outdoor living – that’s awarded by the German Design Council. Launched in 2012, these awards are among the most widely regarded worldwide, with a goal to discover, present, and honor the best design products out there.
