Emmanuel Gonzalez set a goal to create a lamp with a minimal amount of material and no hardware and the result is Lo1. At first, he looked to the Bauhaus movement for design inspiration, and then researched Japanese woodwork for assembly pointers, both of which led to an unpretentious, minimalist design composed of only seven parts (plus the bulb).
The simple lamp utilizes only five pieces of wood, a circular piece of glass, and the electrical component to get to the finished product. Notches removed from the wood make for easy assembly with a slot carved out to hold the glass in place. The frosted glass obscures the bulb while letting the light pass through.
