Your Guide to Pampering Mum This Mother’s Day by BrandsExclusive

Given how much they’ve done for us, we believe that mums deserve to be pampered every day. From raising and feeding us to carrying the emotional labour of motherhood on their strong shoulders, there’s never a wrong moment to show our appreciation for the amazing women in our life. However, Mother’s Day is the perfect time to go all out treating our mums like the royalty they are. Here are a couple of ideas on how to spoil her, with alternative ideas so that the little ones can get involved too!

1. Spa Day

A long, relaxing spa day is the ultimate form of pampering. Treat your mum to an afternoon of restorative massage, a replenishing facial or invigorating body scrub, with just enough time left to sneak in a mani-pedi! A good quality, professional spa day doesn’t come cheap, so as a rare treat it really is a standout way to show your mum some love and appreciation on Mother’s Day. Customise a day that she’ll love at high-end hotel spas such as the Langham or Park Hyatt or at independent salons.

Kids’ alternative: Have a spa day at home by mixing up a jar of nourishing oatmeal and honey facescrub!

2. High Tea Brunch

When you think back to the thousands of breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks your mum’s lovingly made for you, it’s an absolute no-brainer that she deserves to be taken out for a nice meal. A beautiful high tea brunch is the perfect setting for Mother’s Day. It’s fancy, it’s fun, and there’s usually the option to break out some bubbly…

Some of our favourite fancy high teas in Sydney include the Queen Victoria Building’s Tea Room and the stunning Hydro Majestic Afternoon Tea in the Blue Mountains, where you and mum can enjoy panoramic views of the stunning Megalong Valley with your scones.

Kids’ alternative: You can never go wrong with breakfast in bed.. Dad can help them with this easy recipe for delicious ricotta strawberry french toast.

3. Gift Hamper

These are a few of her favourite things… here’s where you can really show how well you know your mum, by creating her a hamper of things you know she’ll love! Maybe a box of her favourite chocolates, a fresh flacon of her signature scent, a bottle of the pinot noir you both fell in love with during that trip to the Barossa a few years back? The possibilities and combinations are endless, and beyond the material worth of the gifts, it’s all about showing that you really know her and pay attention to what she enjoys.

Kids’ alternative: fancy foods and sparkly jewellery are great, but nothing beats the sentimentality of a handmade card by the little ones.

4. Sign up for a class together

Don’t let Mother’s Day be the only day you spend quality time with Mum. Juggling work, kids, social lives – it’s easy to let this most important relationship fall to the wayside because we know our mums will always love and support us. This Mother’s Day, sign up to an activity together – yoga or meditation classes, a fortnightly pottery workshop, a pastry masterclass. You’ll both learn something new and have a chance to relax and enjoy each other’s company on a regular basis.

Kids’ alternative: they can let you and Mum relax and enjoy quality time together by helping out with chores for the day.
