Recent graduate of Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, furniture designer Ruoxi Wang designed the Take Me Away collection as a way to create a cozy corner in your space that lets you get away from reality. Consisting of a chair, lamp, and table, the series was inspired by surrealism with the goal of creating visual illusions to help shift your perception while conjuring a link to one’s dreams and memories in hopes of establishing a new vision.
The fits neatly into a corner with its asymmetrical design that offers multiple seating options. Both seat backs are tall with the hope of offering more privacy and comfort for leaning back and relaxing. Each of the three cushions that make up the design are different shapes and covered in three tones of the same color for a more dynamic look.
The floor lamp looks as if it was meant to swing but its pendant hangs suspended to create a spot light over the chair.
The table gives a changing perspective depending on your position around it. The stem of the table looks as if it’s straight up vertical but when you move to the side you notice that it’s at a angle. The shape of the tabletop resembles that of the seat cushions and the base of the floor lamp, creating continuity throughout the collection.
