Cope is a new brand by Nick and Rachel Cope, looking to design a fresh vision for the textile world by drawing inspiration from nature, science, and the arts. Their latest releases for the home are Speckle and Eon. Both designs first made their debuts as wallpaper and are now available as fabric printed on gorgeous Belgian linen, as well as ready-made pillows.
Speckle’s pattern is inspired by the splatter-painted floors found in New England, where Rachel grew up. She used a paintbrush to create a veritable constellation of dots in varying shapes, sizes, and colors by gently tapping it to design a collection that’s modern yet playful.
The Eon collection looks to the Indonesian technique of wax-resist dyeing for inspiration. Layers of hot wax were first hand-applied to sheets of silk before hardening to create a dye-resistant surface. When cracked, folded, and rubbed, different gradients and lines were created. The cloth was then dyed and heated so that the wax could melt away and reveal its beauty.
Both textile patterns come in a variety of colorways as well as three various pillow shapes and sizes. See more of what Cope has to offer at studiocope.com.
