You know the drill. The grass needs to be cut, the house needs a clean and the dog needs to be walked. Problem is, there’s only one thing on your mind: rolling up in a duvet on your couch like some sort of human-cocoon hybrid and watching back-to-back episodes of the best shows on Netflix.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone.

The truth is, most of us would much rather swap not only our house chores, but also our Friday night drinks with a House of Cards or Stranger Things marathon. And that’s OK. Why? Because hangovers are yesterday’s news and Netflix shows just get more and more binge-worthy.

But with countless oh-so-awesome shows to watch on Netflix, where do you even begin? We’ve made it easy for you by rounding up the five most addictive, making your schedule look as simple as this over the next couple of month:

Netflix and chill.

House of Cards
Easily one the most popular Netflix-produced series, House of Cards is hands down the best political show on TV since The West Wing. Chances are that if you have Netflix you will have binged on this show already, but for those of you who’ve missed the boat – jump aboard quick. House of Cards follows protagonist Francis Underwood (the amazing Kevin Spacey), the U.S. Senate Majority Whip, as he does everything in his power to climb the ranks. Always securely by his side is environmental lobbyist, Claire (Robin Wright), creating one of the best husband-wife alliances ever seen on television. Do. Not. Miss.

Bloodline
For some reason this show has been overshadowed by many of Netflix’s other series. This might be down to it being such a slow burner, but who doesn’t love the underdog? And trust us – it’s so worth sticking out to the end. Set among the murky mangroves of Florida Keys, Bloodline centres on the lives of the Rayburn family, just your everyday family carrying countless dark secrets under the veneer of big smiles and professional success. When prodigal son Danny (Ben Mendelsohn) returns home at the start of the first season following many years away, these secrets begin to slowly surface. A character-driven drama given its magic touch with exceptional writing and acting, Bloodline deserves a prime spot in your must-watch list.

Stranger Things
Let’s face it, there was no possible way of missing the titanic explosion of popularity Stranger Things has experienced since the first eight episodes burst onto our screens this year. Paying homage to 1980s’ sci-fi films such as E.T. and Alien, the show’s attention to detail will give nostalgic vibes to those not even alive during that decade. From its killer soundtrack to the so-retro-they’re-now-cool-again hairstyles and outfits, Stranger Things will have you wishing it was 1985 all over again. We won’t give too much away if you still haven’t got round to streaming the hit show, but expect everything from mysterious creatures, secret government agencies and the one and only: Winona Ryder. It’s a winner.

Making a Murderer
Unless you’re Frank Ocean and have been living under a rock the last year, chances are you’ve heard of the controversial documentary series, Making a Murderer. The ten-episode first season explores the story of Steve Avery, a man from Wisconsin, USA, who has served 18 years in prison for the wrongful conviction of sexual assault and attempted murder. Sound gripping? That’s only the beginning. After he’s released from jail, Avery finds himself thrown back inside for another suspected murder, this time along with his nephew, Brendan Dassey. With another season on the way, now’s definitely the time to catch up with the famous case with a large tub of ice cream in hand.

The Get Down
To finish off on a lighter note, it’s time to get your dancing shoes on and get down with some catchy disco tunes. The Get Down is Baz Luhrmann’s funky musical drama that hit Netflix earlier this year with an explosion of sparkly mirror balls and flared pants. Set in the South Bronx in the late 1970s, The Get Down tells the story of Zeke Figuero (Justice Smith) and his group of friends who want nothing more than to rise up and escape the Bronx, strictly on their own terms. Expect a flashy production (The Get Down is Netflix’s most expensive show to date) and songs so catchy you’ll be singing them in the shower for days.
