Arne Jacobsen’s iconic Series 7™ Chair is getting a fresh new, limited edition update. Originally designed in 1955, the mid-century classic is donning a new outer layer thanks to a collaboration between the Republic of Fritz Hansen™ and Berlin-based fashion brand lala Berlin. The partnership merges rich colors and luxe velvets to complement the chair’s curvy, feminine shape.
Leyla Piedayesh, the Berlin-based designer behind lala Berlin, gives the chair her own spin with two saturated colors, a dark blue and a burgundy, in soft, durable velvet by Italian fabric makers Dedar, which were inspired by her Iranian heritage. The legs are powder coated to match the fabric for a seamless, monochromatic look.
The lala Berlin x Republic of Fritz Hansen collection includes the front-only upholstered Series 7 chair in lala Barberry (burgundy), and a fully upholstered Series 7 chair and Dot™ stool in the lala Capsian (blue) color. The limited edition chairs will be available from October 2017 through October 2018 only.

The Fritz Hansen Serie 7 is lightweight and easy to handle. It is also stackable, providing an ideal answer where space is a limited option.
