The Islets table collection, designed in collaboration between Maria Bruun and Fredericia, puts the steadfast beauty of Danish design on full display. Bruun represents the new generation of furniture designers with respect for tradition and heritage, and space to bring it into the future. Furniture company Fredericia was established in 1911, and have manufactured some of the most iconic furniture pieces from Denmark since the 1950s.
“To me, Fredericia is a cornerstone in Danish design history. The strong connection between the past and the future is very unique and a privilege to be part of. Their uncompromising focus on quality is enormously appealing to me as a furniture designer. Our core values are very much aligned,” said Bruun.
The Islets collection consists of three tables crafted from solid oak wood. Based on simple construction, precise design and strong identity with a minimum of details, it’s the result of Bruun exploring the balance between a light minimal expression and a bold presence.
”My love for solid wood is clearly expressed in Islets. I firmly believe in sustainability through quality. Creating a piece of furniture that is aesthetically pleasing with well thought details, carried out with the best craftsmanship and high-quality materials. With the oak wood, I wanted a material that acts as a pleasing, soft and caring gesture towards its users.”
