Hi Thanks Bye Is About to Launch Their Debut: Collection 0

Hi Thanks Bye Is About to Launch Their Debut: Collection 0

Stein Wang and Topher Kong joined forces to establish Hi Thanks Bye, a design studio based in Toronto, Canada, and the duo is set to launch their inaugural collection – Collection 0 – next month at the London Design Fair. The collaboration brings forth a combination of “cultural and academic experiences and references” that the designers fleshed out to create their own collection of modern furnishings. The debut inspiration comes from a merging of Canadian landscapes with a Chinese aesthetic that results in a cohesive, six-piece collection of functional and versatile pieces.

The designers looked to their homeland of Canada with all of its natural beauty, like Algonquin Park, the Bruce Peninsula, and Fogo Island, and wanted to showcase that in the collection. They also found inspiration in traditional Chinese gardens that are full of rocks, plants, water, and structures.

The monochromatic collection is made from powder-coated stainless steel (with certain pieces adding upholstery) and it includes a bookshelf/divider, bar stool, dining chair, side table, floor lamp, and rug seat.

Hollandse Nieuwe Designs Happy Headquarters for a Funeral Insurance Company

Hollandse Nieuwe Designs Happy Headquarters for a Funeral Insurance Company

While their business might be on the morbid side (funeral insurance), DELA’s goal is to take care of the ones that remain. Their human-focused approach not only falls on their insurance clients, but on their employees as well, which comes through in their brand-new headquarters in Eindhoven. Designed by Hollandse Nieuwe, the new digs span 5,800-square-meters and house office floors, a restaurant, and a meeting center, all with a comfortable, approachable aesthetic.

The colorful interiors aim to be a healthy and inspiring environment where the employees can thrive. Colors were incorporated to help define the work areas, which include a variety of types of flexible workspaces they can utilize.

Workspaces and casual seating areas were placed around the perimeter to maximize daylight and views while working.

The designers incorporated greenery throughout to add a natural element that also cleans the air.

The ground floor was given a double-height glass facade to keep a connection to the outdoors. The building also features a “green skirt” of plants that hang down in front of the windows so employees can look out and see nature.

We’ve been longtime fans of Molly Fitzpatrick’s Dittohouse line of textiles and home decor and we’re excited to share her inspiring new collection, The Courageous Woman, for this month’s Designer Desktop. The collection is inspired by Malala Yousafzai, an activist for female education, the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, and also Molly’s daughter’s namesake.

Molly explains more in depth:

The Courageous Woman collection by DittoHouse is inspired by my hero Malala Yousafzai. I am in awe of her bravery and dedication to empowering girls and women and advocating for education as a means to world peace. Throughout this collection I hope to capture the courage of the women I admire and spread a message of empowerment. Also inspiring this collection is my 1.5 year old daughter Malala, who is being raised knowing that there are women like her namesake who’s example she can follow to make the world kinder and more equitable.

The Courageous Woman collection, which launches late this summer, will include knit and woven home textiles as well as limited quantities of bold and confident earrings. A portion of the profits from this collection will go to the Malala Fund, which works towards a world where every girl can learn and lead. Sign up here for the waiting list to know when the collection launches!

Colorful, Woven Outdoor Furnishings from Saba Italia

Colorful, Woven Outdoor Furnishings from Saba Italia

Furniture brand Saba Italia hopes to help you transform your outdoor space with two new collections that are both woven and colorful. New York Soleil was designed by Sergio Bicego and it consists of the seating, while the Shades of Venice, by Marco Zito, are a series of dividers, and while they were designed by different people, they complement each other perfectly.

The New York Soleil collection features woven seating made entirely by hand with polyethylene ropes in various colors that wrap around a painted metal structure, which is available in two colors (white and anthracite gray). The seat cushions are covered in durable outdoor fabrics that are quick-drying and non-absorbent. The collection includes a sofa, armchair, pouf, a chair with or without armrests, and a stool.

The Shades of Venice series of dividers feature nautical cords woven oversized frames creating plaid-like patterns inspired by the colors of the Venetian islands. The weaves allow privacy with a slight reveal of what’s behind them. They can be layered or used alone, and work for both indoor or outdoor use.
