Laylo Pets Launch New Modern Dog Beds Inspired by Italian Terrazzo

Laylo Pets Launch New Modern Dog Beds Inspired by Italian Terrazzo

It seems like everyone (myself included) has been adopting pets from shelters during the current pandemic. After all, having a furry friend to cuddle with while you’re stuck at home definitely makes that time more enjoyable. Laylo Pets’ Terrazzo Collection (a new addition to their modern dog beds selection) celebrates this adoption uptick.

The new Terrazzo Collection, handcrafted in Brooklyn, New York, is one of Laylo Pets’ limited-edition dog bed series. This new design takes inspiration from the classic material it’s named after, Italian Terrazzo. And, it comes in four different color themes: black, white, pink, and teal.

Laylo’s modern dog beds are designed to complement your home’s decor, adding creative, sleek patterns instead of the bulky, bland options often available at pet stores. Plus, these dog beds give your pup the relaxing orthopedic comfort it needs for a comfy sleep.

The brand has made sure not to sacrifice convenience, either. Each bed has a machine-washable cover, a non-slip bottom, a portable handle and a water-resistant insert to protect against a possible accident.

In an effort to encourage even more dog adoptions, Laylo Pets decided to feature five adorable pets from a local animal shelter (The Palm Springs Animal Shelter) in the lookbook for their new collection. The design-forward brand is also donating part of the proceeds from this new collection to that shelter to support more pups getting adopted.

Bernhardt Design Launches a Table Collection Inspired by Surfboards

Bernhardt Design Launches a Table Collection Inspired by Surfboards

Bernhardt Design just launched their latest collaboration – a collection of tables designed by Claudia and Harry Washington. The La Paz collection of multipurpose tables gives nod to La Paz beach on the Salvadorean coast known for its beautiful sandy beaches and surf culture. Intrigued by the surfboards gliding across the water, the Washingtons set out to bring the same elegant form of wooden longboards to the tables. The soft curves of the edges on a longboard are referenced in the smooth, rounded legs and tabletops that define the La Paz tables. The craftsmanship that goes into forming the smooth lines of the boards falls right in line with traditional furniture making, something that resonates with both the designers and Bernhard Design.

From Jerry Helling, President and Creative Director of Bernhardt Design:

Sometimes design inspiration is a stretch, but with Harry and Claudia it was so practical and obvious. I don’t think the romance of the genesis of La Paz will be lost on people. There is a sense of humble purity that is timeless, and the table will resonate as an enduring design.

The La Paz collection comes in rectangular, square and round versions with a choice of solid ash wood or an assortment of veneers and laminates for the tops. A variety of sizes are available, from smaller meeting room and cafe tables to larger conference tables with the option of an undermount power management system for convenient power access.

Clean Lines + Thoughtful Details Await in the Hudson Collection

Clean Lines + Thoughtful Details Await in the Hudson Collection

Elegant yet welcoming, the Hudson Collection designed by Ramón Esteve for Danao is clearly inspired by classic mid-century modern aesthetics. Designed for outdoor use – but not opposed to the indoors – Hudson’s warm details, such as faux leather armrests and clean lines, make it all the more appealing.

“A strongly elegant piece because of its pure lines and a side view with an appealing pattern made of arches and diagonals, it has been conceived to be the central focus in any space in which it is located,” said designer Ramón Esteve.

The complete Hudson Collection includes a lounge chair, three seat sofa, chaise lounge, armless chaise lounge, dining arm chair, dining side chair, two dining tables, three side tables, coffee table, and bar table. Each piece is made of welded aluminum tube to make for light, robust and resistant furniture.

A Small Studio Apartment in Rio Designed with Multifunction in Mind

A Small Studio Apartment in Rio Designed with Multifunction in Mind

Cité Arquitetura recently completed a 32m2 (approx. 344 square feet) studio apartment in Rio de Janeiro for a client that required not only a place to live but to work, also. To make it happen, the design team had to make every square inch work while incorporating furnishings that pulled multiple duties. The result is Studio Mescla, a comfortable home for living, having people over, and for work meetings.

One of the main furnishings was the bed, a piece designed in collaboration with LZ Studio, that’s the focal point of the space. The bed was created to adapt to the owner’s needs throughout the day with various backrests that can move around for different functions.

Besides the bed, the only pieces of furniture required were the dining table, a couple of chairs, and a lounge chair. The ceiling was hand-painted to mimic the look of graph paper for added texture and visual appeal, while the long wall was clad in green lacquered panels for a pop of color.

The dining table works as a desk during the day or as additional kitchen counter space when needed. The wall-mounted TV can be watched from the bed or used for work purposes while seated at the table. The built-in storage cabinets feature a lower section that offers extra seating when additional people are over.
