The Lounge Chair by Instrmnt Applied Design

The Lounge Chair by Instrmnt Applied Design

The Lounge Chair is a minimalist lounge chair created by Glasgow-based studio Instrmnt Applied Design, built in collaboration with furniture maker Lewis Macleod. The chairs are made-to-order in limited quantity, and can be specified in either American Walnut or Scottish Oak.

The most striking feature is a small removable plinth that extends on a stainless steel arm, bolted to the left hand side of the chair. The beveled hardwood top is sized to perfectly fit a coffee cup or notebook. Sandblasted stainless steel is utilized throughout the frame along with the armrests.

The upholstery is available in three options, which include a grey melton wool, a tan calf leather or a green Italian boucle. Local manufacturing has been key for the studio; the Lounge Chair takes that a step further with the bespoke carpentry, upholstery and stainless steel fabrication taking place within a few miles of their shop and studio in Saltmarket.
