The four parts of Generation Köln – Karoline Fesser, Klemens Grund, Tim Kerp, and Thomas Schnur – traveled to Austria to team up with a group of craftsman for a meaningful collaboration. Harald Berchtold, Martin Bereuter, Valentin Winder, Wolfgang Meusburger, and Wolfgang Schmidinger, all members of the Werkraum Bregenzerwald, worked with the group to design and create pieces of furniture made entirely from Silver Fir.
The deep connection between people and materials was quickly acknowledged as the collaboration got underway, and new pieces made by the groups show the influence of landscape, tradition, culture, and craftsmanship. A foldable chair, a shelving system, a trough, a side table, and a wardrobe are just a few of the thoughtfully made objects to come out of the collaboration.
The exhibition took place in a pure, calm location named White Cube at the Martina Kaiser gallery without much staging. The setting seemed to acknowledge that good things take time.
