With the current pandemic and orders to stay at home, most of us are still getting used to being confined behind the walls we usually escape, even if it’s just for work. We can all agree 24 hours a day is a lot to be at home but hopefully your space is a place you find solace. If it’s not, changing or adding something new is a great start to help shift the energy to one that’s more relaxing. We scoured new arrivals in the Design Milk Shop in hopes of sparking some ideas to create a more cozy space. Take a look!
Southern California based Norden Goods was founded in 2014 by husband and wife Erika and Pete Panciera. The duo noticed the market was missing minimalist, design-driven home accessories that were classic enough to stand the test of time. Over the years, the brand continues to expand their catalog with products that include home fragrance, tabletop, ceramics, textiles, and apothecary products. Their eclectic mix of offerings gives nod to the places they’ve visited on travels, delivering a sense of warmth and coziness everyone is seeking during these trying times. Light a candle, burn some incense, or cozy up under one of their wool throw blankets for the ultimate in comfort.

Flyte, and its iconic levitating light bulb, began as a Kickstarter project that exploded in popularity, even being named one of TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2016. Since then, the clever magnetic levitation with wireless powered design has expanded to include additional floating lights, along with gravity-defying planters. Whether you’re in need of extra light (they have energy efficient LED bulbs rated to last about 50,000 hours!) or a mesmerizing design that leans towards sculptural, the Flyte lights and planter are entertaining and playful to have around.

With a Fine Arts background, artist and interior designer Jillian Carmine launched Jillian Rene Decor in 2012 with a single colorblock pillow design. Thanks to word of mouth, the design grew in popularity leading to what is now a vast collection of modern pillows that are consciously crafted in their Richmond, Virginia studio. The pillows combine color, form, pattern, and texture with inspiration being drawn from nature, fashion, and mid-century modern design. Add colorblocked pillows to a sofa or bed to transform the look and make you love the space even more.
