Manta is an unconventional, multifunctional bench designed for mmcité by designer Lucie Koldová. This minimal piece of public outdoor furniture takes both its name and inspiration from ocean-dwelling manta rays and their elegant movements, while also offering a fresh idea that works for both work and rest. Manta’s various horizontal surfaces enable it to take on multiple roles as desk, table, or bench, while its soft curves mimic smooth waves that encourage relaxation.
“I am delighted that Manta evokes so many positive emotions. I love the city, the movement of people, the vibrant energy, and my goal was to create a thoughtful oasis, a pause in space and time,” Koldová says of her outlook on street furniture.
Manta is just as comfortable indoors, adding personality to any space in which it resides – large rooms, wide hallways, parks, and gardens included. As for its construction, a wavy aluminum plate sits upon a subtle steel frame for the structure itself, and is available in a number of color choices.
