Minimalist designer, interior architect and lifestyle entrepreneur Olubunmi Adeyemi is the founder of AFROMINIMA and THE DÅ BRAND, with The RawUrban Kitchen Collection being their first design collection. The RawUrban Kitchen and tableware collection was guided by Adeyemi’s own love of food and culture.
“My mother was a great cook and she had this turning stick called OMOROGUN, which is a traditional kitchen tool used for preparing local dishes in Nigeria,” he explained. Adeyemi was inspired to refine and redesign this local tool, which ended up being the start of the RawUrban Kitchen Collection.
The line’s name comes from the use of raw materials and its use in the urban environment. Each piece is handmade from locally sourced wood, with the collection consisting of cleanly designed utensils and tableware designed using the AFROMINIMA design ethos that follows functionalism and minimalism.
The RawUrban collection was designed for chefs, the design conscious or the passionate cook, and consists of spoons, platters, bowls, spatulas and more. Each object is multifunctional in nature, and handcrafted with the use of locally sourced wood and hand painted with non-toxic paint for a contemporary urban look.
