New York-based architect and designer Drew Seskunas, and his new practice SAW.EARTH, have released a new take on the iconic Malm fireplace. The Prism Chiminea is compact, at 3-feet tall just the right size for balconies and patios, and ready to help us continue to social distance outdoors this winter and beyond.
I grew up camping on the East Coast with my parents and their friends, and fire rings are a fond childhood memory that I associate with family and togetherness. An outdoor fireplace was always something I wanted to design for myself. In the wake of the social challenges posed by COVID-19, I’m pleased I can offer a backyard feature that facilitates year-round gathering to a wide array of audiences.

The wood burning outdoor fireplace features a geometric trilateral design that funnels flames and smoke up the flute, as well as a double-walled system that refracts heat outward. The Prism itself is made of pre-enameled, laser-cut and heat-resistant aluminum, which has been painted, riveted and folded. This practice allows for the prevention of corrosion and wear from natural elements over time. An anodized gold sheet wood insert reflects light and heat out of the fireplace, creating a warm and inviting glow. Choose from red or black and get to enjoying those chilly temperatures again.
The Prism Chiminea is sold exclusively on prismplanters.com and stocked for immediate shipment nationwide. Minor assembly is required.
