A Modern Apartment in St. Petersburg Inspired by a Luxury Hotel Suite

A Modern Apartment in St. Petersburg Inspired by a Luxury Hotel Suite

A young couple in St. Petersburg, Russia requested MS-A to design their apartment as if it was a high-end hotel suite with the main living area and bedroom separated only by glass. They devised a modern, minimalist design plan with Asian influences that resulted in the use of lots of wood, concrete, glass, natural stone, and brick, and a dark, moody color palette to complete the look.

Storage is hidden everywhere, like in this column attached to the dining table and behind wooden panels in the kitchen.

A decorative wall was installed with different types of bricks to give it its jagged appearance.

The minimalist kitchen appears to be the wall-mounted cabinet and sink, but more is hidden behind the wooden walls. Lighting is filtered down from the ceiling through wooden slats, which also disguise the heating and air system.

The living room and the bedroom share six, floor-to-ceiling glass panels that keep sight lines open and let light to pass through.

The closet is covered with perforated metal doors that let light filter through like a night light.
