The La Redonda Chair’s Design Plays with a Two-Dimensional Circle

The La Redonda Chair’s Design Plays with a Two-Dimensional Circle

Playing with the two-dimensional shape of a circle, Bodegón Cabinet designed the La Redonda Chair that takes the circle into three-dimensional form. A single sheet of galvanized steel was cut out and bent twice to form the sculptural chair. By molding the steel, it transforms from a piece of flat material into an object that not only takes up space, it’s functional as a chair.

The design visually shifts the shape depending on where you’re standing. From the front at a certain distance, it looks like a circle, but rotate around it and it takes on geometric sculptural qualities that trick the eye.
