At his workshop within the Sylva Woodland Foundation, Oxfordshire-based maker Anthony Dain creates contemporary timber furniture with delicate patterns. Dain’s furniture pays special attention to how form, pattern, and texture can work together in new ways. He taps on his experience with traditional British furniture making, architectural joinery, the built environment around him, while also drawing influences from elements of traditional Japanese joinery.
Dain used to create bespoke furniture, interiors, and commissions for architects and interior designers as well as private clients, but in the last few years, he has shifted his focus to the contemporary timber furniture he produces for commission and for exhibition.
