Marking their 70th anniversary, Los Angeles chocolatier Compartés celebrated by opening their new, state-of-the-art chocolate factory that gives visitors a modern Willy Wonka vibe. The new flagship space spans 6,000 square feet, 5,000 square feet more than its original Brentwood location, which will allow them to increase production to 1 million bars per year. The luxe space, which includes a kitchen and gift shop, was designed by the company’s owner/CEO/Creative Director, Jonathan Grahm, making it a truly Compartés experience.
The space leans towards Art Deco with imported Italian marble clad walls, bold pendant lighting, and custom brass doors that rise 14 feet high. While the backdrop is mostly neutral, it’s clear the chocolate and its delightful packaging are meant to take center stage. Their artisanal chocolates are just as beautiful as their colorful packaging, with each bar looking like a piece of art, inside and out.
While perusing the space, it’s hard not to be drawn into what’s happening behind the 60-foot wall of glass. The pristine kitchen is where visitors can watch the chocolate making process. Compartés makes over 50 types of chocolate bars and Grahm is always developing new flavors which will now be made here with plenty of room to grow and innovate.
Pro tip: If you’ve never tasted their chocolates, do it ASAP, as they taste even better than they look!
Compartés Hollywood Chocolate Factory and Store is located at 516 N La Brea Ave in Los Angeles, California, with hours running Monday – Saturday, 10am – 6pm.
