Bruce Rowe is an artist, architect, and Creative Director of Melbourne design studio Anchor Ceramics. Last November he put his Recent Works 2019 on display at Los Angeles-based concept studio Stahl+Band’s Venice showroom – fifty ceramic wall reliefs and sculptures, timber-framed form studies, and freestanding works.
Stahl+Band Creative Director Jeffery Molter describes Recent Works as:
Stunning art, tactile, and quite empowering with the form and vibration of pure, organic minimalism. A form I’ve never seen before in three dimensional sculptural ceramics.
Rowe explores light, form, and structure, along with material and process, throughout the series. Timeless architectural details are evident in most every piece – from sculpture to painting – as are themes of protection, defense, refuge, and boundaries as told through shadow, light, and of course, Australian clay.
