Anyone with an inkling about skateboard history will recognize the 1970s-era tear-dropped shape of the Banzai skateboard. Made to look as fast as its sidewalk surfing purpose, the iconic design is being revived and revamped as a limited edition set, featuring an anodized and hand-brushed aluminum deck and a few accouterments intended to capture the attention of skateboard aficionados.
Celebrating their 43rd anniversary, the Banzai reissue is represented in five colors and in two sizes. With just 50 boards allotted per color and size, these skateboards will be temping for the collector – definitely more of a keepsake for display than your daily ride and grind.
But what makes these special editions worthy of a collector’s attention are the extras, with individual components inset into its own high-grade collector’s box, and the inclusion of signed artist prints commemorating the art and artistry of skating by the likes of designers/artists such as David Carson (Ray Gun, represent!), Jay Nelson, Nathaniel Russell, Todd Glaser, and Cole Barash.
Available in five colors – Jade, Amber, Ghost, Sienna, and Azure – each color is available in either the original slim 70’s slalom design for $478 or a larger design for $556 for those who want something with more real estate for the feet. Buy here.
