With all of 2020’s design shows canceled and sales across the globe plummeting, it would be fair to say that much of the industry is scrambling. On the hunt for a solution, Stockholm-based Note Design Studio has built an online direct sales platform – Note Editions – for the new world we find ourselves living in. Note Editions seeks to establish a connection between its users and the design studio, providing direct access to limited-edition and early releases of its designs, essentially removing the distribution chain.
“After the strangeness of the pandemic, we felt the need to move, rethink, and explore new possibilities. Everything started with a question of how other approaches might be necessary. We had long wanted our new collaborations to be more readily available. By launching Note Editions, we can now speak to everyone at the same time,” said Cristiano Pigazzini.
The first “Edition” is the Mallow lounge chair, designed by Note Studio in collaboration with Danish furniture brand Labofa. Inviting and playful, it resembles a group of marshmallows with a more sophisticated aesthetic. The back and armrests are plenty plush and comfortable, while the base can swivel as desired. This version of the Mallow lounge chair is upholstered in a special-edition fabric from Kvadrat’s Moss collection, and the chair is available to order exclusively from Note Editions.
