Building on the success of the original 2006 Aston line, Arper re-enlisted designer Jean-Marie Massaud to expand the collection with a new lounge chair for 2020. The Aston Club is a statement chair with a bold silhouette and classic lines, offering maximum comfort within its cocoon-like body. In addition to Arper’s focus on ergonomic comfort, sustainability was a top priority. Everything inside the Aston Club is made from post-industrial recycled plastic, all of which can be taken apart and recycled or upcycled for use in other products, helping to reduce waste. To celebrate the launch, Arper chose four fabrics designed and developed by Kvadrat and Belgian fashion designer and co-creative director of Prada, Raf Simons, as part of the Kvadrat/Raf Simons collection launched at Salone del Mobile 2019, to upholster the new lounge chair. Designed for office, hospitality or residential use, the Aston Club with matching footrest not only delivers visually, but for comfort when it’s time for rest and relaxation.
The new range of fabrics enhance the personality and identity of the product. To the current elegant Arper collection, we have added exclusive fabrics and finishes that transport Aston Club from the most classic to the most radical environments.
-Jean-Marie Massaud, designer of Aston Club
Arper used no glue during production in order to reduce emissions and allow all components to be disposed of responsibly. The Aston Club base features a powder-based coat that is free of VOC emissions. While we’re loving the chair in the Kvadrat/Raf Simons fabrics, it is also available in a variety of upholstery options, from classic fibers to contemporary patterns, and a base finished in polished or painted aluminum.
