One of this year’s design weeks takes place in our own backyard. We’re excited to be sharing that the inaugural San Diego Design Week 2020 presented by Mingei International Museum takes place this September 9-13, 2020! This is the first of an annual event that will celebrate how design is shaping this region and will feature presenters from both the San Diego and Baja design communities.
There will be over 100+ events, including online/live sessions (FYI: a Clever podcast episode comes out on September 8!), pre-recorded videos, drive-thru art exhibitions, virtual chef demos, design articles, self-guided tours and more. The program of events are divided into 9 categories of design: education, craft, community, environment, sustainability, food + drink, music, sports and technology. There will be something for everyone at SDDW, so design professionals, students, curious learners and even kids will be able to explore a number of design topics. Some of the events that piqued our interest include “Architecture With Or Without Borders,” live portfolio reviews by Adobe XD (submit your portfolio here!), “The Workspace Reimagined,” “Live Experimental Calligraphy Workshop by Yomar Agusto (below), “Social Media // Social Change,” and “Virtual Open House + James Hubbell Studio Tour.” While most of the events are free and open to the public, some require registration or a ticket; learn more here.
Although this first edition of San Diego Design Week will look different than it will in the future, we’re excited to support a design festival from one of our own communities. To learn more, visit sddesignweek.org.
