Joogii’s T.S.S. Luminaire Began with a Dream

Joogii’s T.S.S. Luminaire Began with a Dream

Los Angeles-based Joogii, whose iridescent designs have been featured before, is back with a retro slash psychedelic looking lamp dubbed the T.S.S. (Time Space Sound) Luminaire. The multi-colored fixture is a conglomeration of fantasy and time travel, coming together to tell a story that was launched by a daydream.

The dream began with a meeting between the late architect Oscar Niemeyer and the alive artist Olafur Eliasson who come together with the help of a fantastical time-space situation to talk about the “perception-altering qualities of form and color and its impact on the human experience.” As the dream fades and reality set in, the designer wanted to collect various memories, from childhood drawings to living in Rio de Janeiro, and document them with the help of LA-based illustrator Will James.

The fixture, which is debuting at SaloneSatellite next week, is made from CNC-milled acrylic and mouth-blown milk glass in Los Angeles.
