A Renovated, State-of-the-Art Vet Clinic in Montréal

A Renovated, State-of-the-Art Vet Clinic in Montréal

Most veterinary clinics have that same sterile look that appears not to have been updated for 30 years or so, but Hôpital Vétérinaire du Parc takes a different approach. T B A (Thomas Balaban Architect) renovated and extended the space to include the brand-new veterinary hospital, SPCA emergency clinic, and four residential units on top in the Mile End neighborhood of Montréal.

Concrete floors make for easy cleanup after pets while original details were preserved to add character to the clinic. The reception area features a large glass panel where animals and their owners can peer below.

The interior boasts a minimalist feel with pale, soothing colors with the hope of keeping anxiety down.

In the residential units, you’d never know they were connected to an animal hospital.

The exterior facade was given a monochromatic renovation with the use of one material – limestone. Balconies are set back into the design to ensure tenant privacy while keeping the front flat and streamlined.
