Woven Felt Becomes the 3D PLECTERE Acoustic Textile

Woven Felt Becomes the 3D PLECTERE Acoustic Textile

Most acoustic solutions come in panel form designed to attach to the wall or hang from the ceiling. While they’ve gradually become more attractive via new shapes and fresh color offerings, they’re still pretty basic. PLECTERE takes sound-absorbing to a beautiful level by weaving woolen felt strips into a three-dimensional textile that can be used as a room divider, partition wall, light, or a window shade. Designed by Studio Petra Vonk, the 3D forms are visually appealing thanks to the repeating woven pattern that helps absorb high and low frequency sound waves.

As more offices go to the open floor plan, sound becomes a major issue that has to be addressed. Enter acoustic products. Even if some separation is desired, not every space needs to be walled off completely making these woven textiles a great option. They allow for a certain amount of transparency while still partitioning an area.

Along with sound absorption, PLECTERE brings texture and warmth to typically sterile office spaces. With the woolen felt cutting down on what employees are hearing and seeing while at work, it’s bound to improve focus and productivity.
