A Chinese Designer’s Private Residence in Chongqing, China

A Chinese Designer’s Private Residence in Chongqing, China

For Gengbo, the design director of YHDQ Design, the memories and tokens from his global travels served as the central inspiration for the renovation of his home in Chongqing, China. Working with an original structure of two lofts, Gengbo removed the majority of the walls to transform the space into an open and light-filled home where the owner’s artworks and findings could take centerstage.

Gengbo then added additional furnishings from Loewe, Foscarini, Moustach, Roche Bobois, and Baxter.

The ethereal dark green tones of the space are matched with a muted white palette to create an overall minimalist expression. With the interior finishings, low saturation colors were chosen to evoke a creative and spiritual mood.

YHDQ Design was first founded as a gallery in 1997; it now specializes in space decoration, art production, procurement, and promotion, with headquarters in Chongqing and branches in Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Hangzhou.
