A Colorful Columbus Home That Combines a Modern + Eclectic Aesthetic

A Colorful Columbus Home That Combines a Modern + Eclectic Aesthetic

Once a duplex in Columbus, Ohio’s German Village, this modern residence is the result of combining two units into a single family home. The finished project came together as a collaboration between Mary Dietsch Architecture and Edgework Creative, and along with the homeowner, who led the interior design, a colorful, playful interior emerged evoking the feeling of being on a permanent vacation. The homeowners described their design style as “slightly modern and mostly eccentric,” which can be seen throughout with their bold color choices and eclectic furnishings.

Edgework Creative were tasked with building a number of furniture pieces in five rooms of the home. The dining table is one of those pieces and they’ve surrounded it with yellow and blue upholstered chairs from Blu Dot.

Once the central wall separating the duplexes was removed, they were able to build a butler’s pantry just off the kitchen, which happens to be the homeowners’ favorite room. It stocks the baking supplies, espresso and coffee machine, and a full bar displayed on custom shelves by Edgework Creative.

The all-black office looks sleek with an elongated desk by Edgework Design, a trio of sconces and a mix of artwork on the walls.

Playful pink tiles, along with a custom mirror and My Mitzi lighting, make the bathroom stand out.

Another Edgework Creative design is the media unit and shelving in the family room which holds their books, art and objects. The dark media unit keeps the TV from being too distracting while offering additional storage below.

>>> In addition to designing custom furnishings, Edgework Creative makes handcrafted, minimalist furniture that is available for purchase via Kauffman Mercantile here. <<<
