Prime Complex is a minimalist space located in Medan, Indonesia, designed by KE•RA Design Studio. The space was converted from a four-house plot to a layout of three separate zoning areas. Existing columns within the space were merged with the structure, concealing them from view.
While traditional homes commonly use a vertical grid to distinguish one home from another, the architects decided to transform the plot to a horizontal zoning grid with different leveling to distinguish each area. The ceilings follow suit by slanting upwards following the levels.
The architects utilized natural tones and materials for the interior, and wanted to create a raw, industrial aesthetic. While the floors and walls consist of concrete, the architects used gold accents to bring out various features of the space.
