Unusual times have resulted in unusual measures, including the proclivity for work teams that once worked shoulder to shoulder just months ago now jumping onto Zoom virtual video meetings with daily regularity. Despite being a longtime Zoom user myself, I must profess it’s only very recently I’ve ventured into uploading a faux digital backdrop during a call. Previous professional decorum required an orderly and well illuminated home office as a backdrop, and my own served the purpose without issue. Bu today, those bounds have been stretched to permit some level of creative license. While I’ll keep my Twin Peaks themed room for calls with friends, I’ve added a few new modernist interiors from the Design Milk archives to inject some aesthetic variety without introducing unnecessary distractions. Here are ten of our favorites (and three not-so-minimalist options for after hours):
The Shoebox: A 16m2 Micro Apartment in Beirut
Minimalist Apartment in Taichung by THEY Department
A Compact 65m2 Apartment in Kiev Separated by Blue Curtains

And as a bonus, a trio of colorful modern backdrops to brighten the mood for leisurely lunch or after hours Zoom calls:
