Based in Berkeley, California, MGG Studio was founded in 2014 by Marja Germans Gard after completing her Ph.D in clinical psychology and working as a psychologist. A pull to explore her creative side had her swapping the lab for the jewelry studio where she handcrafts modern sculptural pieces. The bold, minimalist jewelry makes for bold statements, but at the same time, they’re well suited for everyday wear. The latest collection falls right in line with previous ones but with more angular curves that reference Henry Moore’s Oval with Points, a sculpture Marja passed every day on her college campus. Its soft curves and organic geometry, in addition to natural cave formations along the coast of Portugal, became the source of inspiration for the sculptural MOORE/MOURA collection featuring earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings.
