What began in 2019 as some time off for textile and product designer Donna Wilson to escape London for her native Scotland, turned into Abstract Assembly. In 2020, the art project took shape as a limited edition line of wooden chairs and mirrors as Wilson experimented with composition, color combinations and organic forms, and in 2021 it evolved even further. The latest additions introduce small one-off abstract wooden tabletop sculptures, some with hand-blown glass elements. The sculptures are made using traditional joinery methods, with some pieces specifically leaving empty spaces for glass to be blown within. Each sculpture is made entirely by hand in Wilson’s East London studio, using Douglas fir, Oak or reclaimed wood. It’s then finished with a combination of water-based and gloss paint, and coated with a clear natural lacquer. Ready and waiting for your tabletop!
