7 Major Things To Avoid At The Races by BrandsExclusive

To stay on track for a fabulous day out.

Heading track-side this Spring Racing season? The races an be a fabulous day out, but before you don your best fascinator, check our list of major no-nos to avoid a faux-pas…

1. Go with the flow

More often than not, a day out on the wide open space near the race track will involve a sizeable gust or two. Avoid showing the world a part of your outfit you’d rather keep hidden by avoiding short, flowing dresses and opting for long, fitted silhouette.

2. Put your best foot forward

Let’s face it, unless you’re lucky enough to be invited to the members stand, seating options are limited. Ensure you spend the day in comfort by selecting your footwear wisely. Avoid a stiletto heel (and sinking into the grass!) and aim for a block heel. Silicon party feet are also a lifesaver for those who love a higher heel, and avoid wearing a brand new pair of shoes – and the blisters that usually go with it.

3. Hydration station

While there’s nothing as glamorous as sipping on some bubbly trackside, don’t neglect a glass or two of water throughout the day. Spending an entire day on your feet in the sun can take it’s toll, so keep hydrating! Your head will thank you in the morning.

4. Hello sunshine!

Speaking of sunshine, be sure to incorporate a quality pair of sunglasses into your Spring Racing look. There’s nothing sexy about a glare.

5. It’s what’s underneath that counts

Think about the logistics of your races attire. Does your dress require a strapless bra, or do you need to invest in some Hollywood tape? Nothing ruins a beautiful dress faster than a hot pink bra strap showing.

6. Size does matter

When it comes to handbags that is. Make sure your selected clutch can fit all your essentials – concealer, lip gloss and bronzer, to keep you looking fresh all day long.

7. Check the theme

Most days of the Spring Racing Carnival have a set theme, for example Derby Day is all about the black and white, while Oaks Day is flirty florals’ time to shine. Check ahead of time to make sure your outfit theme is on the right track.
