A Small Modern Home with a Big Impact in Charlotte

A Small Modern Home with a Big Impact in Charlotte

A small plot typically yields a small home, but space limitations didn’t stop architecture studio Wittehaus from designing a spacious modern abode. The result, located in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a home that boasts four large bedrooms and an open floor plan despite its 1,990-square-foot footprint.

The exterior looks tiny, but upon stepping inside visitors are greeted by a light-filled open floor plan that provides a new perspective. The space begins with a dining area and leads to a living room and a full kitchenette. Large sliding glass doors in the living space lead out to the front porch, while glass doors in the kitchen lead to a sitting area at the back.

Designed for contemporary living, the home features an independent suite that can be sectioned off as space for family members that move in, a home office, or an Airbnb. The residence’s modern and space-saving interior resembles an urban apartment but without the claustrophobia that comes with typical city living.

Near the front entrance, a wood staircase with a metal panel detail leads to the second floor, which includes spacious bedrooms, each with multiple windows to let in light, a small living area the connects the rooms and a balcony.

The home was built for energy conscious residents, as it is prepped for a Solar Panel system and a car charging station.
