A Collection Inspired by Traditional Palm Architecture from Aljoud Lootah

A Collection Inspired by Traditional Palm Architecture from Aljoud Lootah

Dubai-based artist Aljoud Lootah designed a striking collection of furniture and lighting that’s electroplated in copper and rose gold. The AlAreesh series were inspired by “areesh” structures, typically found in the United Arab Emirates as summer houses with gapped walls that create ventilation. The structures are made from dried palm fronds linked by rope as a way to offer relief from the sun and wind. Much like these traditional structures, the pieces in the collection incorporate vertical lines that have a way of playing with the surrounding light as it passes through the openings and bounces off the surfaces.

The AlAreesh collection includes a screen, stool, coffee table, and a table lamp.
