China-based design brand Studio Buzao has created a new collection of seating in which they use electroplating to change the surface finish of stainless steel. Shown during Design Shanghai, the stainless steel benches and stools are industrial by design, but the electroplating process has modernized them with its psychedelic effect. The design of the pieces were inspired by objects form everyday life, such as wood pallets. The jazzy, colorful finish is part of Studio Buzao’s mission to surprise and experiment: “buzao” means “I don’t know” in Chinese.
