New Work by Sebastian Alberdi Studio for Bolia

New Work by Sebastian Alberdi Studio for Bolia

Outofstock’s co-founder Sebastian Alberdi has introduced two new designs – KYOTO hooks and HOLA bench – for Danish brand Bolia. The Spanish-Argentinian designer created these designs under his own imprint, Sebastian Alberdi Studio, after designing for Outofstock for over ten years. Here, he explores materials and technology in his latest work.

The HOLA bench aims to be a welcoming piece of furniture for the home or office, hence its name (hola means ‘hello’ in Spanish), with its mix of contrasts – straight and rounded, soft and hard. With a woven leather upholstered seat that rests on a steel structure, the bench is finished off with a black marble shelf at the bottom for storage.

Made of natural or black stained ash wood, the KYOTO hooks were inspired by a trip to the Japanese city where Alberdi learned about the Japanese technique for hammering metal, called Tankin. Referencing that technique, the texture on the hooks was created using a pressing technique.
